The owners of HMS Gåssten aim to be one of the most environmentally progressive boat operators and are dedicated to constantly improving her eco credentials which was at the forefront of the brief for the 2019 refit.
Energy efficiency
HMS Gassten operates with one engine as opposed to the two required in her previous life, runs on Biodiesel and is now equipped with a new electric generator and state-of-the-art battery. This highly efficient system ensures the generator need only be run for short periods and can be turned off completely at night. Other upgrades include LED lighting throughout, double-glazed windows, ethically and sustainably sourced timber, and an environmentally friendly water treatment facility. Our cleaning products and beautiful, handmade bathroom products are all ocean friendly.
Locally sourced
Provisions are purchased with their carbon footprint and air miles in mind. All ingredients are locally sourced, fished for sustainably and foraged for where possible, The menu on board reflects this and is typically Norwegian with European influences. Our crew keep plastic consumption to a minimum and recycle wherever possible.
