
We operate all year round, navigating the ever-changing elements of the Lofoten Archipelago. This, and the seasons, will determine your itinerary on board HMS Gåssten and you are in our crew’s highly capable hands to ensure that you get the most from your stay. Each month brings new opportunities for adventure here and is as beautiful and individual as the next. ;We will plan your time to include as many of your chosen interests as possible, whatever the weather brings, and offer a four night stay as a minimum.
Sample Summer Charter

Day 1
Arrival into Svolvær, Lofoten.
Private transfer to Henningsvær where you board HMS Gåssten. Your crew greet you with a drink and an update for the week’s activities, then take a stroll through this picturesque fishing village before our evening cruise.
We sail South West towards Nusfjord until our chosen anchor post for the night is reached. Enjoy the first of many dinners together in the saloon, taking in the panoramic views of the mountains and sea. Simply preparing the freshest local produce that this abundant region has to offer, your chef will tailor all your menus to the seasons and your preferences.

Day 2
Start the day with a hearty breakfast before visiting one of Norway’s oldest and best-preserved fishing villages, Nusfjord. Explore traditional red cabins and learn about the region’s fishing history. For those feeling energetic, we’ll take a packed lunch and hike to Nesland, following a beautiful coastal path with impressive views.
After a full day out exploring, it’s time to return onboard to relax as you sail towards your next destination before enjoying dinner together in the saloon watching the coastline pass you by.

Day 3
After breakfast, we sail towards Hamnøy, passing by dramatic cliffs and small islands, stopping for a kayak, paddleboard or swim in the brisk, clear waters.
We continue our journey to Reine, often considered the jewel of Lofoten. The approach is breathtaking, with its towering mountains reflected in the deep blue fjords.
In the afternoon, you can hike the Reinebringen trail, one of the most stunning of this region and take in the panoramic views.
We sail deeper into the Reinefjord as the sun drops, to seek anchorage for the night, reaching the remote and stunning Kjerkfjorden.

Day 4
After a leisurely breakfast and maybe a morning dip, we go ashore to hike to the secluded beach of Bunes or Horseidvika, where towering peaks frame pristine white sands.
Back onboard you’ll have a delicious lunch on anchor before we begin our journey North East sailing through the fifth strongest tidal current in the world, Nappstraumen. This area is known for its beautiful beaches but also offers unforgettable mountain hikes and scenic walks close to the ocean. Either take to the land or explore the coves by paddleboard.
After a long day out exploring it’s time to return to the comfort of HMS Gåssten for supper onboard. Finish your evening by watching the sunset from the upper deck.

Day 5
Wake up to breakfast on anchor in the turquoise waters before we sail back through Nappstraumen, a renowned fishing spot where you might hopefully catch something chef can have on the table for you hours later.
We’ll then cruise over to the magical island and beaches of Skrova where you can explore the island on foot or by kayak. Nearby, you will witness the magnificent Lille Molla, a breeding spot of the largest eagle species in the world.

Day 6
Wake up and enjoy coffee on the top deck taking in the scenery before we cruise through Raftsundet on to the Trolfjorden, a mythical fjord only accessible by boat. and learn about the history and myths Trolfjorden.
Once the anchor is down, our crew will lead you on a hike up to the Trolfjorden cabin. You’ll learn about the history & myths of the area over a picnic lunch and experience isolated cabin life. Take a dip in the glacier lake and then warm up in the wood fired mountain sauna.
Head back down the mountain to board HMS Gåssten for your last night onboard and enjoy the serene quietness before dinner on anchor in one of the most exclusive and beautiful places in Lofoten.
