HMS Gåssten is a majestic, retired warship, sensitively transformed into a glorious and unique adventure vessel. One of the last wooden-hulled minesweepers, she patrolled the Baltic and Gulf of Bothnia for 26 years, clearing second world war ordnance from the cold war’s aquatic frontline. The thoughtful refurbishment of the boat remodeled the officers’ quarters into a configuration of well-appointed, hand crafted guest cabins. Many of the boat’s original naval features such as the original exposed oak beams and solid brass fittings, have been retained.

Saloon & Top Deck
With its wood panelling, L-shaped seating and huge, hand-crafted oak table with banquette surround, the spacious, purpose-built saloon is at the heart of the vessel. Located under the bridge, with 270 degree views of the majestic coastline, it is the perfect place to relax after a day’s adventuring, read, play games and enjoy the freshest, seasonal menus, prepared by your chef.
Take your binoculars upstairs, glass in hand, to the furnished top deck to really take in the vistas & wildlife. In Summer, experience the ‘white nights’ when the sun doesn’t sleep. Spot sea eagles, orcas & humpback whales, sea birds and seals against the dramatic backdrop of the Arctic coastline. In Winter, snuggle under blankets to watch the Northern lights and gaze at the stars.
Cabins
You’ll sleep in four individually designed koselig*t cabins for up to 9 guests with wood panelled walls, warm Nordic fabrics & soft linens.
There are three double cabins (one of which has a pullman single bed above the double bed – great for children) and one twin cabin. Each cabin has plenty of cupboard storage space and a handcrafted ensuite shower room with ocean friendly products.
Koselig (pronounced ‘koosh-lee’) is the Norwegian equivalent to the Scandi ‘hygge’ & ‘fika’ a term encompassing comfort, generosity, cosiness and contentment.
All cabins have bedside lights, USB sockets and UK plug sockets. All the on board toiletries are locally sourced, ocean & ecofriendly.
